A day after Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) staged a protest in Delhi and a parallel demonstration took place at Azad Maidan in Goa, the state's BJP vice-president, Narendra Sawaikar, sparked controversy by saying, "Cockroaches are with termites." His remark drew criticism from Congress and Goa Forward Party, which demanded an apology from Sawaikar for using "disgraceful and dehumanising language".
