Researchers in Hungary have found that some “genius dogs” can learn object names simply by overhearing their owners’ conversations. The study showed these gifted dogs could identify toys with up to 100% accuracy without direct teaching. Scientists say the ability mirrors word-learning patterns seen in children under two, though only a small number of dogs show such skills.
