'Indians needed a certificate to simply sit in Britishers' offices,' says Goenka

Billionaire Harsh Goenka shared a picture of a British-era 'Kursi Nashin' certificate issued in the name of a person named Ram Narain. "In British India, a certificate like this was needed for Indians to simply sit in an official's office," Goenka said. The certificate, issued in July 1887, called Narain an "accepted Kursi Nashin...entitled to the courtesy of a Seat".
