The Punjab and Haryana High Court imposed costs of ₹50,000 on a man who challenged the award of ₹5,000 maintenance to his 77-year-old mother. "It is a classic example of Kalyug which is reflected from the present case which has shaken the conscience of this Court," said HC. The man challenged the maintenance saying his mother wasn't living with him.
