Researchers develop sensor that detects sodium nitrite in drinks

Researchers from Brazil have developed a cork-based electrochemical sensor that can identify sodium nitrite in various beverages, including mineral water, juice and wine. Sodium nitrite is commonly used as a preservative but can pose health risks when consumed in excessive amounts. The study shows cork-based sensor's potential as a sustainable, eco-friendly alternative for food safety analysis.
