'Super' El Niño could hit Earth in coming months

Climate scientists are increasingly warning that world could be heading towards an exceptionally powerful super El Niño event. It generally occurs when Pacific Ocean temperatures rise at least 2℃ above normal levels. Such events are rare but can dramatically disrupt global weather systems. Super El Niño of 1877-78 remains one of the deadliest climate disasters in recorded history.
