1.2 lakh trees to be cut for enhancing Indore-Mumbai rail link

The Centre has given final approval, subject to conditions, for felling nearly 1.40 lakh trees for the 156-km Mhow-Khandwa railway gauge conversion project in Madhya Pradesh. Around 1.24 lakh trees are in Indore district. The metre-gauge line will be converted to broad gauge and is targeted for completion by 2030, improving Indore's connectivity with Mumbai and southern India.
