Over 1,36,000 tech workers have been laid off by 422 companies so far this year, TOI reported. Over 40 companies including big companies like Intel, IBM, Cisco, and even smaller startups, cut more than 27,000 jobs in August 2024, it added. In early August, Intel announced plans to lay off approximately 15,000 employees, or more than 15% of its workforce.
