1,949 people arrested, 305 police officers injured as student protests spread in France

As many as 1,949 people had been arrested on Thursday, and 305 police officers were injured as student protests over school funding and studying conditions spread across France. Videos of fires breaking out at schools surfaced online as students protested lack of teachers and staff, overcrowded classrooms, and run-down buildings. The protests had descended into "urban violence", government said.
