A UNICEF report revealed that 1 in 8 girls, or over 370 million women globally, have experienced sexual violence before turning 18. The number rose to 650 million, or 1 in 5 when "non-contact" forms of abuse such as online harassment were included. "Sexual violence against children is a stain on our moral conscience," stated UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell.
