10-year-old Pune girl diagnosed with rare immune disorder

A 10-year-old Pune girl was diagnosed with Macrophage Activation Syndrome after 10 days of high fever, joint pain, rash and severe tiredness. Tests showed ferritin above 5,000, low blood counts and raised liver enzymes. Doctors linked MAS to systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis and treated her with steroids in the PICU.
