100 new deep-sea species discovered off New Zealand coast

New Zealand biologists discovered approximately 100 new species during an exploration 5 km beneath the sea. The team gathered nearly 1,800 samples from depths reaching 3 miles (4,800 metres), identifying potential new species of fish, squid, mollusk, and coral. The newfound organisms include unidentified species and a peculiar creature known as a 'sea-pig'.
