Scientific tests have revealed a 1,000-year-old mummified monk hidden in a golden statue of a sitting Buddha. Researchers discovered the mummy in the statue, smuggled from a China temple to a market in the Netherlands, after a private buyer brought it to a museum for restoration. The mummy was found sitting on a bundle of cloth covered in Chinese inscriptions.
