Dehradun district administration has sealed 11 madrasas due to non-registration with the state madrasa board or the education department. The government conducted a verification drive before the local body polls, and it was found that Sadar Dehradun tehsil had 16 unregistered and eight registered madrasas. Muslim groups staged a protest and called the sealing exercise "illegal".
