An elderly couple was killed when the Church of God, built in 1902 in Shillong, was gutted in a fire early on Sunday. The fire is believed to have started from a spark in the electrical wiring. The couple is believed to have gone inside their home to retrieve valuables despite authorities asking residents living nearby to vacate their homes.
