According to Turkey's Defence Ministry, 12 Turkish soldiers died after being exposed to methane gas during a search operation in a cave in northern Iraq. The soldiers were trying to locate remains of their fellow soldier killed during a military operation against Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). Other soldiers who got exposed to the gas are receiving treatment at a hospital.
