13 ancient Greek rings may have been made with iron from meteorites: Report
According to a study in Journal of Archaeological Science, chemical analysis of 91 ancient iron weapons and jewellery found that 13 rings contained nickel likely derived from meteorites. The rings were excavated from elite tombs, houses and temples in southern Greece and Crete. Meteoritic iron was a mark of power for members of Minoan and Mycenaean elite, the study said.
