Heman Bekele, a 15-year-old US scientist, has been named TIME's 2024 Kid of the Year. He was recognised for creating a bar of soap that could help treat skin cancers like melanoma in future. "I'm really passionate about skin-cancer research," Heman told TIME. Other Kid of the Year honorees include inventor Shanya Gill, advocate Madhvi Chittoor, and entrepreneur Dom Pecora.
