All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has cut down 1.64 lakh engineering seats nationwide in UG and PG courses. "While some colleges didn't achieve even 30% admissions in last five years, others have applied to reduce seats or shut down," AICTE Chairman Anil D Sahasrabudhe said. "Action was taken against some institutions for not maintaining quality standards," he added.
