As many as 17 Naxalites surrendered in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur, citing disappointment with "hollow and inhuman" Maoist ideology and exploitation of tribals by seniors, Senior Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Yadav said. Nine of them collectively carry a bounty of ₹24 lakh on their heads, as per a police official. They have been provided financial aid of ₹25,000 each, Yadav added.
