18th-century Siberian woman had closely related parents: Study

More than 120 Indigenous Yakut burials from the 14-19th centuries in Siberia were examined for their genetics. Archaeologists found shamanism persisted into the late 18th century. One woman, seen as the last Yakut shaman, had second-degree-related parents, making her the study's most inbred individual. Buried in a tree-trunk coffin with symbolic horse remains, her burial represented clan identity.
