The 1936 Berlin Olympics were the first to be televised live, with a special black-and-white telecast arranged for athletes in the Olympic Village, besides screenings in 25 special viewing rooms in Berlin and Potsdam. The 1960 Rome Olympics were the first to be broadcast live across Europe, while Tokyo 1964 were the first Games to be telecast worldwide.
