The first-ever international football match under Association rules was held at the West of Scotland Cricket Club in Scotland and contested between England and Scotland. The match, held on November 30, 1872, ended in a 0-0 draw and was attended by 4,000 spectators. The match was solely organised by the English Football Association, who even assembled the Scottish team.
