The first manned mission to the moon, Apollo 8, was launched on December 21, 1968, from Florida, USA. The spacecraft which took three days to travel to the moon had astronauts Frank F Borman II, James A Lovell Jr, and William A Anders aboard. The spacecraft orbited the moon ten times over the course of 20 hours.
