The first-ever successful flight in history made by the Wright Brothers in North Carolina on December 17, 1903, was just 12 seconds long, covering a distance of 120 feet. Brothers Wilbur and Orville, who did not have a college education, flew the gasoline-powered aircraft four times that day, with the last flight being 59 seconds long and covering 852 feet.
