Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Uday Samant said on Tuesday that 2,257 illegal water connections have been cut in Mumbai in 2026. "Orders will be given to cut illegal water connections. A 90-day drive will be undertaken for this [by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)],” he added. The illegal water connections were being used for construction activities, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde revealed.
