Primus Partners' survey found that 2.35 crore Indians may become gig workers by 2030, a 22.5% rise from 2021. Flagging concerns, the survey said that among "prime-age, long-tenure" workers, almost none view gig work (which pays ₹22,500/month on average) as a "stepping stone" but instead as a "long-term career". "India needs a mobility-oriented redesign of the sector," the report added.
