A special trial court in Ahmedabad sentenced two persons to life imprisonment and acquitted three others in 2002 Sabarmati Express train burning case in Godhra, Gujarat. It was proved that the two accused were conspirators in the case that left 59 passengers dead. The five had been arrested in 2015-16 and were put on trial by SC-appointed Special Investigation Team.
