Over 20% of groundwater samples tested in Delhi contained nitrate levels above the safe limit, according to data submitted by the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) to the National Green Tribunal. The permissible limit for nitrates in drinking water is 45 mg/l; however, some samples from Delhi recorded levels as high as 994 mg/l, over 22 times the acceptable limit.
