2,000-year-old Roman 'boxing gloves' dug out in the UK

UK-based researchers have uncovered Roman "boxing gloves" beneath the stone fort of Vindolanda, UK. Dating back to 120AD, they are thought to be the only known surviving examples of the sport well documented in Roman wall paintings and sculptures. The leather gloves were designed to fit snugly over knuckles, while one of them even retained the impressions of its wearer.
