The TN Consumer Court has ordered MIOT Hospital in Chennai to pay ₹20 lakh as compensation for the death of a patient during the 2015 Chennai floods. Shanthi Kalaiarasan alleged that her husband had died of negligence on the part of MIOT. The hospital’s ICU, on the ground floor, was inundated in the rains that lashed the city in 2015.
