The 2016 EgyptAir flight crash that killed 66 was caused by a pilot smoking a cigarette, an investigation found. The Airbus A320 plane was travelling from France to Egypt in May 2016 when it crashed into the sea south of Crete. The cigarette inadvertently ignited oxygen leaking from an emergency gas mask leading to the fire and crash, probe found.
