2018's first supermoon to coincide with New Year's Day: NASA

January 2018 would witness two supermoons, where a full Moon can appear up to 14% bigger as it comes relatively closer to Earth. The first supermoon would occur on January 1 while the month's second full Moon, also called a blue Moon, would be on January 31, also featuring a lunar eclipse making the event a 'super blue blood' Moon.
