Delhi Police opposed the bail pleas of Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, and others in UAPA case linked to 2020 Delhi riots, saying it was "deep-rooted, premeditated and pre-planned conspiracy" aimed to make the CAA a global issue. Police said that CAA issue was carefully chosen to serve as a "radicalising catalyst" camouflaged in the name of "peaceful protest".
