Yale palaeontologists uncovered 210-million-year-old fossils in New Mexico that may preserve the final moments of two ancient crocodile relatives killed in a flash flood. They said the proto-crocodiles may have died while "looking at each other" before being buried. The fossils capture the ancient rivalry between reptile lineages that would evolve into crocodiles and dinosaurs.
