22-year-old man receives world's first successful face and hands transplant

A 22-year-old man named Joe Dimeo from US' New Jersey, who was left without eyelids, ears and much of his fingers in an accident, has become the recipient of the world's first successful face and hands transplant. Though the surgery occurred in August 2020, Dimeo's doctors waited to ensure the transplants were not rejected before calling the operation a success.
