Ladakh Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has officially declared 23 heritage sites across the Union Territory as "Protected Monuments" under the Jammu and Kashmir Ancient Monuments Preservation Act. The move is aimed at preserving these monuments and "safeguarding the collective memory of Ladakh's people". The sites includes the Sharnos petroglyph site, Tingmosgang Fort, and several rock inscriptions.
