Competing in his first-ever Olympics at the 1992 Barcelona Games, Belarusian artistic gymnast Vitaly Scherbo, on August 3, became the first Olympian to win four gold medals in a single day. Later, the Belarusian also became the first Olympian to win six gold medals in gymnastics in a single edition of the event.
