At least 27 Maoists laid down arms before the police in Jharkhand's Ranchi on Thursday, marking the largest such surrender in the state. Officials said 22 Maoists have been killed while 44 were arrested and 29 have surrendered in 2026 in Jharkhand under 'Operation Navjeevan'. The Maoists were allegedly linked to CPI (Maoist) party's last active Politburo member, Misir Besra.
