274 fugitive criminals brought back to India since 2019: Govt
India has brought back 274 fugitive criminals from 36 countries since 2019, the Home Ministry said, crediting the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018. It said India secured an average of only four extraditions annually between 2004 and 2013, while 110 requests remained pending. The ministry added that PM Narendra Modi made fugitive extradition a "national priority."
