According to an officer of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, as much as 3 lakh metric tonnes of LPG is presently stranded at the Strait of Hormuz. He added that 22 Indian-flagged tankers are currently stranded at the Strait of Hormuz of which six are LPG carriers and one is LNG tanker and four are carrying crude oil.
