30% of India’s overnight trips linked to healthcare: MoSPI survey

The MoSPI’s Domestic Tourism Expenditure Survey 2025–26 found that around 30% of India’s overnight trips were linked to health and medical needs. The share rose to 38.4% in rural areas. Health and medical trips were also the costliest, averaging ₹29,454 in rural areas and ₹41,649 in urban areas.
