300-million-yr-old ‘Godzilla Shark' discovered in 2013 gets formal name

A shark that was discovered in New Mexico in May 2013 and was initially called "Godzilla Shark" has received a formal name. The 300-million-year-old shark, whose fossils were found at a dig east of Albuquerque, has been named Dracopristis hoffmanorum or Hoffman's Dragon Shark. The name honours the family that owns the land where the fossils were found.
