301 gallantry medals awarded to police, fire personnel ahead of I-Day

A total of 1,057 personnel from the police, fire services, Home Guard and Civil Defence (HG&CD), and correctional services have been awarded gallantry and service medals on the occasion of Independence Day 2026. Of these, 301 are gallantry medals. As many as 197 personnel from Left-Wing Extremism-affected areas and 51 personnel from Jammu and Kashmir have been awarded gallantry medals.
