Over 37,000 people, including at least 26,000 women, suddenly lost their Kuwaiti citizenship since August 2024, AFP reported, adding that the real number could be much higher. The move is reportedly part of a reformist agenda spearheaded by Kuwaiti emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah. He pledged to "deliver Kuwait to its original people clean and free from impurities".
