39,000 'illegal' Mumbai slums face demolition as BMC launches 3-month drive

The BMC on Saturday announced an intensive three-month drive from October 1 against unauthorised constructions in Mumbai's slum areas. Out of the total 2.23 lakh slum structures, the civic body has identified 39,111 structures that are either 14 feet or taller. The drive, which will continue till December 31, is aimed at removing unauthorised additions and constructions in slum areas.
