4 held for selling fake certificates for Merchant Navy jobs

The Thane police has arrested four people for allegedly selling fake certificates to over 500 people, for jobs in merchant navy. They used to make fake Continuous Discharge Certificates (CDCs) which certify that the person holding it is a seaman. "They used to lure job seekers and used to charge them between ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh," the police said.
