Nearly 40% of the roughly 4,700 positions eliminated by Amazon across four US states last month were engineering roles, according to filings seen by CNBC. In October, Amazon announced it would lay off around 14,000 employees as part of "organisational changes". Over 500 product managers and programme managers were also fired across the states.
