400 km stretch of dead, damaged mangroves found near northern Aus

James Cook University scientists discovered a 400-kilometre stretch of dead and damaged mangroves in the Gulf of Carpentaria along the northern Australia coastline. Scientists attributed the same to two cyclones. This comes days after a study revealed that degradation of Australia's mangroves, tidal marshes and seagrass meadows is releasing 3 million tonnes of CO2 per year into the atmosphere.
