Kapil Dev became the first Indian to score an ODI hundred on June 18, 1983. He slammed 175*(138) against Zimbabwe during the 1983 ODI World Cup, which India went on to win. The match against Zimbabwe was India's 45th ODI. The highest individual ODI score by an Indian before that match was Kris Srikkanth's 95, registered in 1982.
